Shower Idea: Cupcake Fondue - Frosting + Sprinkles = YUM

idea and photos from Amanda of Bake It Pretty

Just ran across this idea and had to share.  Cupcake fondue, how cute is that?

While I don't own a fondue set (I have a thing against unecessary appliances that take up space) I know some of you probably do.  And using it with its conventional sauces can be a pain.  Why not use it for cupcakes next time you have a shower or party?

Cupcake Fondue

You will need:

3 cups powdered sugar
1/3 cup liquid (orange juice, fruit juice, milk, or water)
2 tablespoons light corn syrup
Miniature-size cupcakes in the flavor of your choice, cooled and unfrosted, without the wrappers
Assorted sprinkles, chopped nuts, and other toppings

To make the fondue: Whisk together powdered sugar, orange juice, and corn syrup. Adjust the consistency with a drop of liquid or a dash more powdered sugar until you get have a smooth, thick glaze. Use orange juice for the liquid portion to give it a citrus flavor and cheese-like yellow fondue color. You could also use grape juice for a pastel purple, or milk/water and add your own coloring.

Pink or blue frosting is a cute option for a shower.  And fill different teacups and eclectic containers with toppings for a vintage look.

Love it!
