My Dream Nursery

This is a re-post but I just love it so much I had to share again......

Although I don't have my own nursery, I thought I would take the time to lay out what mine MIGHT look like if I did have one! I blog all day about decorating your nursery but I had never thought about what my own would look like, so this was quite a project!

First up, bedding. A few months ago I saw this bedding set on a friend's blog and LOVED it. Turns out, her Mom made it and it is the inspiration for my fantasy nursery design.

Its the perfect boy pattern without being the typical blue. It is the inspiration for my relaxed, slightly-Texan-without-being-Western design. Next up is the crib. I have always loved this Pottery Barn Skylar Crib. The espresso white combo really pops, and the graphic storage underneath is both functional and decorative.

This Jennifer Delonge rocker is also amazing. I love the nailhead detail, but don't love the price - on sale for $1100. If I was looking for real I would have to find another option but the design is beautiful. For wall decor I have alot in mind. Wall decor for boys can be challenging if you don't want something too babyish. I love the idea of vintage maps on the wall. The Husband and I have been collecting maps from places we travel and it would be cool to use them in the nursery. We have one from our honeymoon in St Lucia and one from an anniversary trip. I would also love to add one from California, where I was born. Remember, I like to put things on the wall that actually have meaning to me!

Since I am all about painting, I would paint something personal for the walls as well. I am inspired by this Texas needlepoint pillow:

and this painting of the USA from Pottery Barn Kids:

I would use both of those ideas and create my very own version of the state of Texas. In addition to significant places like the capitol, I would add our own personal family places, like pictures of Grandma and Grandpa in Houston where they live, and of course Kyle Field in College Station - Whoop!

Finally, I would add some vintage looking wall stars in rust and green to pick up the accent colors in the bedding. Overall I hope it creates a unique, vintage, personal space that doesn't look too baby and will grow up with Junior. That is what we call the imaginary baby - HA! Now, I wonder what I would do if we had a girl.......

Oh I love the idea of the wall stars...I've been trying to figure out what to put on the walls for some color and that is perfect. Hope you don't mind if I steel that one from you.
