Nashville & Derby Pics

The Husband's grandmother was from Kentucky, so his family has some ties to the Derby, and we went again this year.  This was our second time to go, and I was much more prepared with a fabulous dress and hat.  The first time I didn't really know what to expect, and was a little under-dressed.

The trip started out a little rocky, as H got the stomach bug on Tues, gave it to me Tues night, and gave it to The Husband Wed night.  We were leaving on a flight out of Houston on Thur morning, but we made it!

We started out in Nashville, where we ate at Roberts BBQ, and had a night out in downtown:

Of course, we had to hit up local favorite, The Pancake Pantry

SIL and I at Robert's Western World, listening to a little live music.  We took a ton of pictures just the 2 of us, we were laughing that it looked like we took our own vacation!

Then it was off to Bowling Green for a night, and on to Louisville the next morning.

The official drink of the Derby is the mint julep, but Friday they have the Oaks race, and their drink is the oaks lily, which is pink and sweet.  Almost too sweet, I only drank 2 of them, and then moved on to the julep.

The Husband and I in our derby duds.  He is wearing maroon pants (whoop!) and I scored the suspenders and the tie on ebay to complete the look.

Meanwhile, Baby H spent some quality time with my parents, Mimi & Poppy.  Here she is playing with her new toy.  Doesn't she look so big - love the concentration face!  And as an added bonus, she gave the flu to both of them while she was there.  I felt so bad for them, so major thanks to Mimi for watching her while we had a great time!

We have a few other weekend trips planned this year, but nothing major.  I am dying to go on a beach vacation just the 2 of us, but that will probably have to wait another few years!
