No people, I am not talking about basketball. It may remind you a bit of your Grandma's house but embroidery hoops aren't just for holding your cross stitch in place. They are a great way to introduce color, pattern and shapes to your wall and you don't have to be super crafty to do it. Check out this wall created with vintage fabrics:
These hoops are available at any craft store and you just open them up, put your fabric inside and tighten. Trim the edges and you are done! Easy as that! Try shopping the left over or remnant bin at the fabric store for coordinating patterns because you don't need much fabric for this project.
And, if you want to step it up a notch, try painting or stitching some shapes onto the fabric in the hoop. This one was done with felt. Felt is easy to work with because it is thick and cuts into shapes well without any fraying edges. Just do a running stitch around the edges to hold it on. Or, you could even glue it.
And, as a special gift for the Grandparents (or yourself!) try this footprint project. The ones pictured were stitched on the fabric but you could do the same thing with acrylic paint and Baby's little feet. Too cute!
