DIY Nail Polish Necklace

before:

after:
If you can ignore the back ground, I think the project came out pretty cute.  I had been looking for a good maroon necklace to wear to football games (Whoop!) and couldn't find one that wasn't too expensive.  So I decided to paint an old necklace with nail polish.

I didn't have the right shade, so I mixed purple, red and a little brown in a tin foil cup I fashioned.  I gave it a couple of coats and let it dry overnight.  Its surprisingly durable, and the finish didn't scratch at all.  Tip: use the nail polish brush that is the fattest and largest so you don't see the brush strokes.  The OPI brush was the worst one, too skinny.
