Week 1 Loves

celebrating 1 week with our first walk around the street

Week 1 is done!  This week my Mom came back to visit and help me out around the house.  The Husband had to go take care of some stuff last Friday at work so I had my first full day at home solo and it went really well.  I even managed to make dinner for us Friday night - chili over white rice.

So far Hadley is adjusting nicely, and mostly has a schedule of eat for 45 min, sleep for 3 to 3.5 hours, play for 10 min and eat again.  At 5 days she was already back up to her birth weight, so the pediatrician said it was fine to let her sleep 4-6 hours at a time and she didn't necessarily need to eat every 2 to 3 hours.  Yay for more sleep!

Here are the items that have already proven to be a lifesaver Week 1.  If you are preggo I highly suggest you have these on hand when you bring your little one home!

My Gilder - At first I would try and be lazy and nurse her in bed or on the couch at night.  The Irvington chair from Best Chair really does fit me perfectly and makes nursing go much more smooth and comfortable for both of us.

Boppy Pillow - Not only for nursing, but it was great to have support when holding her after my c-section.

Summer Infant SwaddleMe Blankets - At the hospital we never quite mastered the swaddle with the blanket.  When we got home, I started using these with the velcro tabs and they are invaluable!  Hadley loves to be swaddled after feeding, it really is the key to sleep for her!

Bassinet on the Stroller - We planned on her sleeping in the pack n play, but the bassinet attachment on her stroller has been great for naps all around the house.  And when she fusses, we just push her around the house in it.  We have yet to venture outside, maybe this week.

25 Watt Light Bulbs - This last one we discovered after turning on lamps to have a little bit of light.  All our bulbs are 60 watt and higher and way too bright!  I suggest replacing your lamp bulbs before you go to the hospital, the soft light is much better for all of you!

One week down, tons more to go!  I do have to say I couldn't be happier with the way things are going so far.  She is such a good baby!

Congrats on one week with your sweet baby girl! I've a fan of your blog and I've kept up with it for probably close to two years. I stumbled upon your blog when I was pregnant with my little girl who is now 15 months and we're expecting another one. Life flies. Anywho, I love your art and all of your fabulous nursery finds. You actually inspired me to start doing my own custom nursery art. Thank you!

Kim...you sound like a pro already! I'm so impressed :) and, I'm so glad that your week at home has been much calmer than the hospital. Enjoy having your mom there and enjoy your time at home with Hadley!
