Before & After: Pink & Brown Dresser Makeover

A couple of months ago I attended a furniture makeover workshop from Mandie at Altar'd Furniture. I learned how to paint and distress furniture and it was a ton of fun and very informative. I have a few places at my house I want to paint pieces for but I haven't found the right piece at the right price yet. So when a friend of mine asked if I would help makeover a dresser for his daughter's room I was happy to put my new skills to the test.

Here is the before picture (taken with an iphone) - it had been sitting in a family friends garage for who knows how long. It came complete with old dirt dobber nest and several spiders:

After consulting with my friends, we decided on a slight off white color to match some existing furniture, with pink and brown accents. The room is already painted Behr Possibly Pink (a faint pink that doesn't look that pink in the can but looks great and not too overpowering on the walls). I used the same wall paint on the dresser, and added some crystal knobs from HL to come up with this:

I am beyond thrilled with how it came out. I have been wanting to do painted furniture for forever and it was so much fun. I love painting on canvas but its nice to have a change and challenge every once in a while. Painted furniture is a great way to save $ and incorporate old family pieces that need new life. Now I need to get to work finding a new sofa table and guest bedroom dresser for my own house!
