Somebody is Nesting

Don't let the title of this post fool you, I am not having a baby. Sorry Mom-in-law. Anyway, a friend sent me some cute pics of these cupcakes she created for a "nesting" baby shower she hoted and it got my little blogging head thinking about all the other birdy things you could do for a shower.

Here is the shower invitation, from Tiny Prints:

And the cupcakes she made to coordinate with the invite:

Birds are so hot in decor right now and they fit right in with the whole "nesting" shower theme. Here are some more ideas to get you going:

A collection of blue and green ideas from HostessBlog.com

Originally a theme board for an engagement shower, this collection of shots from thenest.com is also perfect for a gender neutral shower

Another cupcake idea using Chinese noodles and jelly beans from DIYideas.com

Cupcakes seem to be one of the most popular and easy ways to pull in the bird theme. For an inexpensive and natural option, try using natural tree branches as a centerpiece. You can leave them natural or spray paint white for a modern effect. Decorate with egg ornaments (available around Easter) or with fake birds and feathers from Hobby Lobby. You would be surprised how many things you can find to go with this theme once you start looking!
