Trash To Treasure Tuesday

If you follow my blog, you may recall my attempt at painting something for my own fireplace. Since I mostly paint baby and children's art, doing something "grown up" was a challenge. I had visions of a graphic canvas and a bold coral shape. My first attempt looked great - until The Husband came home and said it looked like a tree. And he was right. So, I did a second picture which came out much better and is now hanging above our fireplace. Much more "coralish" if I do say so myself.

So, the first "tree" attempt has been sitting in the guest room closet for months. I still liked it and it matches the rust colored accessories and rug in the entry way, so I thought I would jazz it up and reinvent it. I added a bronze colored border with my favorite metallic craft paint and ta-da, new look:

The picture of the entryway didn't come out so hot but it is really one of my favorite decor spots in the house. The picture is taken from the guest bathroom that is in between both guest rooms. So now when guest exit the bathroom, they have my tree to look at!

The border really dresses up your painting. What a wonderful talent! I love your children's paintings too.
