I Hate My Wardrobe

So, operation lose the baby weight by my birthday (which is 12 days away) is not going so hot.  I have been eating pretty healthy, which used to be enough.  But I am quickly realizing that it is going to take some more exercise to lose these last 4 lbs.  And exercise is not something I am good at, nor do I have much spare time for.  The Husband is really sweet, he thinks I look exactly the same as I used to, but only about half my pants button at the moment so I know there is a little chub to get rid of.  He actually didn't believe me until I showed him my sweet muffin top from buttoning my old jeans.

The bigger problem is that I HATE all of my clothes.  It has been almost a year and a half since I really bought anything new - when we started trying to have a baby I stopped buying new clothes because I didn't know how long I would fit into them.  I don't know what it is about my wardrobe but it all seems boring and out of date!  Both my work wardrobe and my casual clothes suck!

I plan on shopping on my birthday for some new stuff (I saved up a bunch of gift cards from Christmas) but I am not sure what I want my style to be.  And my new Pinterest obsession is not helping.  Who are these people that have time to Polyvore an outfit, down to all the accessories?  I am lucky if I even remember to put on my wedding ring in the morning!  And I am wondering if I should accept my body with these new lbs and just buy stuff that fits or if I will lose some more??  I know 4 lbs doesn't sound like a lot, but for me it means I need to buy the next size up from what I used to wear.  Or get one of those button extenders!  HA!

Readers, did you fee like this post-baby?  Did you hate your wardrobe???

Kim, I don't know you, but I love your blog (and am also an Aggie who just had a baby - 2 weeks ago). With my daughter, now 3, I lost all but 4 lbs of baby weight within the first two weeks. It then took me another 4-6 months to lose that weight. I eventually ended up weighing less than I did pre-baby. You'll lose those last few lbs, it just takes a while. I'd say don't buy too much in the bigger size.

Hi Kim,

You don't know me either but I've been reading since I was pregnant with my little girl and looking for nursery inspiration in late 2009/early 2010. And I'm also an Aggie. So my "baby" will be 2 in April and it took me 9 months until I weighed less than before my pregnancy (granted, only 2 lbs less) BUT my body is still SO different. I workout on my lunch break at work 4 days a week and I still can't get rid of that tummy fat that I NEVER had before even though I weigh less now. I can fit in all of my old pants but I feel the same as you. They just don't fit the same and I don't like how they look on me. And yes, my entire wardrobe did and still does seem out of date because it had been so long since I shopped for new stuff and even now, I don't like the way I look in clothes and don't want to spend a ton on new stuff until I'm happy with how I look and feel. So sorry, I don't have much advice for you...maybe buy 2 pairs of new pants in the bigger size, just to have. Maybe you'll be able to wear them with a belly band longer for your next pregnancy??? That is if you plan to have another baby.

I hardly ever buy new clothes. I never like anything or I hate the way they fit me. I am super worried all the time about my stomach, so I can see why you are worried about 4lbs. Yes, it always seems silly to other people, but YOU HAVE TO BE HAPPY WITH YOU! That's what matters. I have done Pilates and had fast results in my stomach. Plus you just feel great. There is also nothing wrong with just buying some bigger pants and use a belt when you lose that tiny 4 pounds! lol Just whatever you do, don't get down on yourself!!! :)

Hey Kim!!! I am soooo behind on your blog! I can't believe how big Hadley is getting. I also can't believe you are back at work already. Where did the time go? I can tell you that with Chloe it took me 9 months to get to pre-pregnancy weight by the numbers. Then by 18 months I was even less than pre-prego. Guess chasing my monkey around really helped. I held on to some 7 jeans I loved and even once I lost 5 more pounds than I originally had, they still didn't fit the same. Blah! With Eva the same has been true. I gained 11 while I was pregnant with her and in the first two weeks had lost all 11 and 5 more. Since then I've lost 5 more. I was sure those 7's could be resurrected. No.such.luck. My body is just different. The numbers on the scale don't seem to matter. So I say buy at least one or two pair of pants that you can feel great in now. If you do get back into your old ones you can use these for the next baby. If not you won't have spent numerous miserable months hoping for your pants to fit like they used to.
