Top Baby Boy Nursery Designs for 2010

For whatever reason I paint almost twice as many pictures for little girls as little boys. Boy designs tend to be a little less "themey" and consist mostly of names, monograms, stripes and argyle patterns. But, if you are going to do a "theme" here are the top nursery trends for little boy's this year:

Trees - Started gaining popularity last year with the "green" movement, they are still a cool, modern choice. You don't have to go too over the top with bedding and wall decor, you can choose to integrate nature a little more subtly.

I love the idea of a branch mobile

And although this one is pink, wall decals are still hot this year

Nautical - Blue is a dominant color in boy's rooms and that coordinates well with beach or nautical themes. Think classic white and navy, with stripes or hints of another pop color like orange.

Jungle - I have been doing a lot of jungle and elephant theme pictures in the last few months. There are all kinds of colors in jungle theme bedding so you can really pick out the ones that you like. Just imaging teaching your little guy the names of all the animals in his room!

I did this set for a friend's nursery this year

Transportation - Nothing like boys and their toys! Transportation is a classic boys theme and you can go with all cars or mix it up with vintage inspired trains and airplanes.

Kidsline has 3 very different transportation sets that are all totally different but totally cute

Cowboy & Camo - For those of us in the South (and beyond!) Western has always been huge. Think micro-suede fabric and tins stars on the wall. Plus, western decor is available everywhere so there is no shortage of things to hang on the wall for this theme.

Cute camo is making a comeback and it doesn't have to be basic brown and green!

Congrats to those of you having a little boy this year - I can't wait to see what you guys come up with. Want to have your nursery featured? My readers love to see "real life rooms" so email me some pictures and details about your nursery and I may feature it on my blog! You'll be blog-famous!
